Financial Accountant FTC 6 months
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our client on an interim basis for an initial six-month period, with the possibility of extension to nine months.
The successful candidate will support a range of ongoing finance projects and accounting activities across the business. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, process improvements and finance system projects, including the migration of one entity to Sun accounting software.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the pensions and/or life assurance sectors, alongside a strong financial accounting background and working knowledge of Sun Systems.
Key Responsibilities
Support day-to-day financial accounting activities across multiple entities.
Assist with the preparation and review of management accounts, financial reports and reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Contribute to ongoing finance projects and process improvement initiatives.
Assist with the migration of an entity to Sun accounting software, including data validation, reconciliations and testing as required.
Help standardise accounting procedures and improve the efficiency of finance processes.
Support audit requirements and ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders to deliver projects within agreed timescales.
Provide ad hoc accounting and financial support as business requirements evolve.
Requirements
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or a candidate with demonstrably strong relevant financial accounting experience.
Solid experience in financial accounting, financial reporting and reconciliations.
Previous experience within financial services, ideally pensions and/or life assurance.
Working knowledge of Sun accounting software is highly desirable.
Experience supporting finance system implementations, migrations or process improvement projects would be advantageous.
Strong Excel skills and the ability to work confidently with financial data.
A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
